About The Costa Calida

The Costa Calida has a coastline of about 250 km in the region of Murcia located between Costa Blanca in the north and Costa Almeria to the south.  The name, Costa Calida  translates to Warm Coast and this is because of the micro climate the area has with the average temperature of 18 degrees and is also one of the driest areas of Spain.

The Costa Calida has two seas which are the Mediterranean that runs the entire coastline and the Mar Menor (small sea) which is located in the La Manga area which is Europe’s biggest salt water lagoon.

This Costa is ideal for all year round and especially for families with the sandy beaches, warm waters and is the perfect location for water sports including diving, sailing, kitesurfing and windsurfing.

The area has its own International airport at Corvera which is about a 30 minute drive to the coastal areas, the main train station is in Murcia capital but also in Cartagena and Balsicas that are nearer to the coast.

The area is also great for golfers with 22 courses within a 55 km radius in Murcia region, other activities include horse riding, hiking, scuba diving, tennis and padel.

How to get here:

Train – Cartagena and Balsicas

Bus – Cartagena

Car – Murcia 45m, Madrid 4h 30m

What We Do

The area of The Costa Calida  is a great location for family holidays. The Mediterranean Sea and The Mar Menor are some of the best areas in Spain for water sports, here you can canoe, sail, kite surf, wind surf, fish or just relax in the sun.

If you want a bit more fun then you can visit one of the go kart centres in the region or maybe a fishing trip out into the Mediterranean sea or venture into scuba diving from Cabo de Palos.

Costa Calida has horse riding school where you can take a ride along the beach, 22 golf courses, hiking in the mountains, bike rides along the coast or over the hills, tennis centres, padel centres, trampolining and hot air ballooning..

Places To Eat and Drink

Restaurants and Bars

The region has many many restaurants for all tastes,  and as its located next to the sea you will find many fish restaurants with fresh fish brought in every day.

You will of course find all the big brand fast food restaurants but we really recommend trying some of the small local restaurants where you can pick up a menu del dia (Menu of the day) for under 10 Euro where you will get 3 to 4 courses and a drink for the one low price.

If you visit any of the old places like Cartagena or the capital Murcia wonder down some of the small side street and here you will find some of the best restaurants to eat, if you see many locals at the restaurant then you know it will be good and reasonably priced.

The area also has many bars where you can enjoy a drink on the terrace or a roof top looking over the sea, a small beer can be as low as just 1 Euro and bottles of wine from 4 Euro.
